More info

There is something strange about this trip. Virtually all about duos. Tennis star Guy (Farley Granger) hates his unfaithful wife. The mysterious Bruno (Robert Walker) hates his father. A perfect starting point for an appointment that is meant as a joke: I killed the one who is in your way, do you do the same for me.

And then we see how Alfred Hitchcock fully exploited the duality of human nature. The more you look, the more you see. "Is not it fascinating plot?" Asked the "Master of Suspense" often. It is actually doubly fascinating. For Hitchcock left behind two versions of Strangers on a Train after. The original version (SIDE A) is a classic.

A recently surfaced longer British version (SIDE B) provides "a surprising look at Bruno's flamboyant behavior, gay erotic attraction to Guy and his psychotic personality" (Bill Desowitz, Film Comment). Uncovering Bruno's hidden nature combined with great scenes (dazzling tennis match, disintegrating carousel) and suspense as only Hitchcock that can create guarantees a first class movie.
